Nga mihi mahana nui kia koutou katoa. Ko Hayley Read tōku ingoa. Ko ahau te tumuaki o te Kura Takawaenga o Whangarei Terenga Parāoa
I have been a teacher for 32 years, and a principal for 21 years. My leadership experience involves five schools: a city multicultural school, a teaching principal in a country school, a contributing bilingual school, an international school, and my current position at Whangarei Intermediate School. My experiences in these schools have been incredibly challenging in terms of their differences, student needs, and demands.
I am personally driven to better a lot of the poorly served. It is my belief that primary principals are poorly served in the workplace with their enormously complex workloads and community demands. I have the capacity to articulate and the energy to push the concerns of principals under the mantle of the PPCB. I walk the talk. I don’t hui without action. Principals are in crisis, and this impacts families too. Let’s reclaim our voices, our health and power, for the wellbeing of us all.
