PPCB Welcomes You to 2025
A welcome panui from Head of Union, Mark Ellis asking you to share the word.
Kia ora PPCB e te Whānau
Nau mai, haere mai. Welcome to 2025. I hope you have had a relaxing break and found some decent weather over January.
At PPCB we know this is a full-on year for you as you introduce two new curricula. Many of you have told us that last week and this week you and your staff have attended courses and are now ready to help staff navigate changes at your Teacher Only Day. You are off to a flying start. Already our PSO is helping some of you navigate issues and this is a busy year for our Negotiation Team with negotiations starting later in the year.
There are a few things we need you to be aware of:
-
We are continuing to work on our claims. As we are carefully monitoring the political environment we will get back to you shortly with some input about our strategy.
-
We will be asking you to commit to PPCB to be your negotiator in the next round of the collective before negotiations get underway
-
Monitor your payslip as your union fees are now coming out of your pay directly. If you need any help with this contact Hayley Read at membership@ppcb.nz
-
Denise Torrey, our PSO and Lead negotiator has retired from principalship and is working for PPCB part-time. Her contact details are pso@PPCB.nz or 021 262 5557. Denise monitors communication and will get back to you as soon as possible.
We are very keen to make contact with Beginning Principals and believe you are the best way to do this as you welcome them into your clusters, kahui and area. Most Beginning Principals are not aware that there are now two unions that serve principals. Please share the attached information with any new principals in your area.
Nga mihi nui,
Mark Ellis
